Loaded M1A Rifles

About Springfield Armory Loaded M1A Rifles

The Springfield M1A, so far, has been the darling to almost every person into service rifle competition and to them admiring the service-types; with the Springfield M1A Loaded, it has been proved that excellence could be refined and made better.

Springfield Armory M1A Loaded Tech specs:

The Springfield M1A loaded has the same gas-operated, semiautomatic mechanism with a rotating bolt and fires 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition from a detachable. 10-round magazine. The military-style has given it the configuration in G.I. chrome-lined barrel, a two-stage trigger and parkerized finish, complete with a standard peep and front sight-blade. Additionally, it can be equipped with a flash suppressor and a pistol grip, but that will again depend on the legalities of the state. However, there will be no problems with the muzzle brake.

What has changed in the Springfield M1A Loaded?

Improvements include a 1:11 barrel-twist instead of the previous 1:12 though the 22-inch chrome-moly stays the same; the former rear peep sight with one minute of windage/elevation adjustment has been replaced with one minute of angle clicks for elevation while with a half minute for windage. The trigger and the flash suppressor come next; the Springfield M1A Loaded has them in National Match quality, with the 4.5-pound pull being simply fascinating. The walnut/synthetic stock or the detachable 10-round box magazine, though, stays the same but added with a fiberglass hand-guard.

What to feed?

With Israeli military surplus 148-grain FMJ, the Winchester-USA 147-grain FMJ, the Winchester Supreme Competition 168-grain HPBT, the Federal Gold Medal 168-grain HPBT and the Black Hills Match 168-grain Moly HPBT, accuracy averages to 2.23-inch groups at 100 yards for every five shots. Other ammunitions that go with the Springfield M1A loaded are Lake City M80 Ball 1964 and 1980, the Radway Green Ball with Nato headstamp 1980, the Remington UMC .308 FMJ 150gr. 2002 and the Sellier & Bellot .308 FMJ 2002 from the Czech Republic.

How it works?

A one word answer would be flawlessly, but that would get the rookies flying blind.  The Springfield M1A Loaded operates on the force the propellant gases generate to cycle the bolt. The initial cycling; however, is done by pulling the operating rod but it must not be eased forward. It is to be let loose instead, to ensure that the bolt does not get locked.

Maintenance & care

The M1A loaded has been designed to last for a lifetime. However, with proper care using a 7.62mm rifle cleaning kit with plastic-housing flexible steel cable is highly recommended; it will keep the rifling intact. The best cables clean from the breech to the muzzle; if dirt and debris could be kept away from entering the M1A loaded, it will shine like a mirrored surface even a few decades later.
