Springfield Pistols Overview
Springfield 1911: Separate choices for the millions
Very few among others stand a lofty status as that of the Springfield 1911 pistols; in fact, its widespread fame has for long shadowed that of the others in the stable. That often makes people make a wrong choice; a full size 1911 pistol is a beast all right but a ‘beast’ first of all. The late realization often turns people off towards the Springfield pistols, especially them who want to own just one gun for multiple purposes (hunting/shooting sports, concealed-carry and home/personal defense) and those with small hands. They are unaware of the 9mm and .40 S&W version, the 1911 EMP in short-action. That solves a lot of problems, doesn’t it?
Springfield Pistols: Welcome to the echelon
The Springfield 1911 has also been accused of being low on esthetics; the manly design et al is alright, but the complaint was regarding a sophisticated appearance. So the GI.45 was introduced, followed by several other models with a ‘loaded’ and a ‘custom’ version. The rest (Operator, Mil-Spec and Trophy Match) have been created keeping in mind the special requirements for sportsmen, security and law enforcement personnel but they also suit home defense purposes too well. The good looks are definitely a privilege and it gives you a chance to mean going great guns in its literal sense.
All these days, the admirers of polymers – despite admiring the 1911 and its variants – stayed away from Springfield Armory handguns but things have turned different ever since the XD-s and XDM-s saw the daylight, without sacrificing even a bit of the .45 punch. Five different models to choose from and an option for custom-building the weapons, the XD and XDM defined the new standards of ergonomic designs and features like loaded-chamber and striker status indicators, grip safety and the Ultra Safety Assurance trigger system under whole new lights.
The Springfield Pistol: Built for speed and also to last
The Springfield 1911 pistol was just a modicum of dedication, excellence and forethought, chiseled and hammered into excellence in the following years and manifested through the new generation Springfield firearms, which essentially feature through either micron-thick corrosion resistant black oxide or a rugged Melonite® finish for extra hardness; through aerospace grade materials and shortest trigger travels, resulting in a greater ease for shooting faster with an enhanced accuracy for the follow-up shots.
